BACK FROM THE TOP
Hey there, a new year just started! Happy New Year! For me a new year started almost 6 months ago when I moved for a while to New York. It feels like I reborn music wise, and somehow it feels useless to talk about it, because you have to live it to believe it...I was growing in 3 days as much as others do in 3 years (like few of the heroes of some Romanian fairy tales). I was living with this nice but sometimes noisy Chinese family, and even if we were using only "hello" and "bye bye" in our daily conversations I can say that I felt part of their home. They liked me very much (they said), maybe because I was missing most of the time from early morning till midnight or even later (when I was taking a late night D train from Manhattan to lower Brooklyn). Although every day I was doing the same things it was so different each time; locking my self in the practice room and going out at night it was the best schedule. I got the chance to meet Sam Newsome, Carlo de Rosa, Ari Hoenig, John O'Gallagher, Anthony Pinciotti and many others that I played or worked with, and last but not least my dear friend and master Dick Oatts. It was so much happening for me in those months; it was a great learning experience, not only in music but in my life, thank you so much Mel for beeing there with me everyday! I'm back from the top, ready to move on. I wish you all a great year!

MY OLD NEW SOUNDS
Recently I jumped into a new landscape, a new world ready to be discovered. Down South, across the Indian Ocean, the legendary Australian continent is ready to be explored. Mel introduced me to this fabulous part of the world, her native country. During the time spent in Sydney (an amazing metropole), Karragarra Island, Hervey Bay, Warwick (a small but very funny little town), Stradbroke Island, I made my self busy with an instrument very familiar to Australians, the yidaki (also known as a didjeridu or didge), a wind instrument developed by Indigenous Australians of northern Australia at least 1500 years ago. The Yidaki is traditionally made from Eucalyptus trees which have had their interiors hollowed out by termites and it is commonly claimed to be the world's oldest wind instrument. I'm enjoying my old-new sounds...
